Collin  00:06

Welcome to Oh, brother, a podcast of three brothers. Trying to figure it all out with your hosts, Brandon, Colin and Aaron. On this week's show, ride. Hello. Oh, hi.

Brandon  00:32

How's that? How's my team young? Oh, was playing Yeah, I got logged on early because you know, the other day it was like, Nope, not gonna do anything so I was like, make sure it was gonna cooperate with me. And so I had the my Xbox on here. mess around a little bit. And so I just turned it off. Good. Being very loud. Oh, likes to be loud, but does

Collin  01:08

Ah, how's everybody?

Brandon  01:10

Me? Go? Bad I guess. Yeah, you're you're still staying inside forever and never never venturing out into ever, ever, ever again. Yeah, pretty much yeah, it's about it men inside been yeah we're out of school till whenever the as of right now I think April 6 was the date that they sat but they don't have a that's a very that's what they said a couple weeks ago right there we go. Yeah they're like as of right now we're going with that day though We'll see how that goes. Yeah, whatever. We have been taught me. I haven't gotten there yet, because I haven't needed help. But they've been. They basically, like immediately set up a program to start like, feeding kids stuff.

Collin  02:19

I saw that that was so cool.

Brandon  02:22

So they did it like warp speed. I don't know how the superintendent did that. But Holy cow. That was pretty fantastic. Whatever she did with her in the cafeteria, people know like warp speed. So basically the next day, they had enough they had 200 kids come by and got food. Wow. Yep. 200. So they basically set it up to where anybody 18 and under. Can't come by and get food. Yeah, and it's not Just like lunch, they gave they do it during lunch time. Right? But they basically give you three sacks. They go, here's your lunch sack, here is a sack for supper. And here is a sack for breakfast tomorrow. And then you can come back again. So they did. They did 200 people the first day. I think they said, I think yesterday they did 220 of those. That's awesome. Yeah. Yeah. It's pretty crazy. Oh, well, and I like I like that. They said,

Collin  03:41

it's anybody you don't have to have. You don't have to have previously qualified for a discount or free lunch. Yeah, no, it's everybody. It's everybody. Because just this is changing so many people's circumstances.

Brandon  03:52

Well, yeah. You know, it's just Yeah. Oh, yes, I saw that. That's what they do during summer school. Anyway. Just anybody 18 and under you come by you can get lunch. It's lunch only, but they the fact they got enough stuff and some help from another organization to do three is like whoa. Holy cow

Aaron  04:18

was just from the school or

Brandon  04:21

whether the school and they worked with another local community organization that's been providing, like afternoon snacks for everybody. So the past month question mark. This group has brought in snacks every day afters like for the kids can have at the end of the day, and it's basically enough food. calorically to count for a supper. Right for those kids that go home and don't eat again. Yeah, but it's just available for anybody who wants it. So they just bring a box to my room. And like, at the end of the day, we have 15 minutes, like go back to your homeroom, plug in your iPads, do all that stuff, get ready and get packed up. So before we go home, and we use that time as our snack time, so they come in the kids that want some come by and get it. And then I just basically say, hey, there's leftovers who wants it, and all the kids that want to come up, grab a bunch of stuff to take home for either for them or for their siblings or whatever. And they just take it all on them. Wow. Whatever. So I think that group helped in with the the dinner time thing I think the school usually does the school I think is doing the breakfast and the lunch. And that other group is helping with the after school thing. Sure. Are this pretending so even doing that Susan didn't go to work today because we were supposed to have today off anyway. So Oh, but she's been going up there just because she's the. She's the public relations person. Ah, so she's been up there. Basically school right now is the superintendent, the superintendent's office. So Susan's up there because she's the public relations person, slash district enroller. But that's not really useful at the moment. Not a whole lot enrolling. And the other ladies up there who she does the, like, purchasing, budgeting office business stuff is there. And then her custodial staff is there. They've been like bleaching the school. I guess what she said they like bleached, everything like that. The whole she said on Wednesday. I think they did the whole cafeteria chairs. floors, tables, everything boom, done. Nuts. She helped him do that. Do that chair scrubbing thing. I think the other lady did that because they were like, Well, let me do whatever you got to do. Yeah, yeah. So they're up there. I don't know if any other administrators are up there. She hasn't said I mean they don't really need to be probably but Sure. So. Yeah. Since I was taking home with Chuck Oh, yes.

Collin  07:36

Goodness. Are you gearing up for online classes and stuff now or

Brandon  07:41

well so. So what I am doing is I am I am just putting stuff in my online thing for kids. They want to write so we have been instructed that Anything that kids are doing right now they will not be held accountable for. So it is not to be graded. Um, that is partially due to the fact that our school has a very low home internet access. Sure. So I put a thing up yesterday. I just like a review thing. I put up a couple reviews like today I did a follow up like, here's a couple websites to look at over a thing that we covered in the fall. And there is a a Kahoot, right, because you can do Challenge Mode Cahoots. Turns out they work long distance, so they can just do them puts the questions and everything on their iPad. So they can do that. And I got about 30% precipitate her people do participation, participation. There you go. I was looking at the weather earlier. That's why I was thinking, precipitation, whatever. Well, it was raining. All day and it's supposed to rain more Sunday. Sorry, that's where that came from 30% precipitation around about 33 ish percent. So about a third of my kids did it. So far again, there's no timetable on it. They can do it if they want to. But I'd say that's probably close to the number of kids have access to internet at home. So, and some of them I put it up open ended. So they might, you know, not do it yet. They might do it later. But I did have actually had kids email me like, Hey, can we like do something like Yep, got, you know, I didn't do anything. The first couple days of just letting him kind of sink in a little bit. And then we started to think of some other stuff that we can do just to kind of put out there that they can kind of be involved in and we'll see but It's all just sort of voluntary, if you want to you can when you want to, you know. So yeah, that's kind of it. I've been doing that. And I've been playing video games this week. I decided, I just think about which one I wanted to do and then playing some video games this week. That's my that's my goal. Thank you. We can talk about that a little later. If you want. Okay, sure. Some topic for a minute. Aaron. Aaron, how are you doing? You still found syrup? So you're all good to go, right? Yes, that was the only thing that was standing in my way. Susan says it's in a cereal aisle. Why is it in this year? It wasn't

Aaron  10:43

okay. It was in some far off random aisle. And I went back and forth. It was like in the baking aisle. Now that I remember correctly, because there is like all like

11:00

That's fair, like, all that stuff and it'll just like smack dab in the middle.

Collin  11:05

I feel your pain. I wait, I went to go buy eggs, like not even a couple weeks ago now. And they moved them. They were like over in like one of those open, like, cooler things, you know that they've got over kind of by like Walmart generally has them over by like the meat or whatever. They're just like open top cooler unit deals. Yeah, that's where they used to be. I found them now back in the cabinet that clearly says dairy next to the milk. And I was like, wait, that's, that's a dairy product. I don't. And then the cheese is way over there. The only thing in this cabinet is dairy is milk and yogurt and you put eggs in there. It's like what Hold on.

12:01

Yeah, that was that was my dilemma because I was like, Oh, I gotta do my my month shopping anyway and then kind of shoot up on the wrong day with everybody, but I had a cart full and I was like, Where's this era?

Brandon  12:15

There is no right day currently, right?

Aaron  12:18

No, Aaron is still having to work. We got an email Thursday. That's like, Well, you know, if you don't need, you don't have to come to the office unless you don't have like, want to, and then got an email yesterday. It's like, avoid the office as much as possible. You have to have special permission to enter the office. And I had a case I had to go out on this morning, which made things awkward and it's like, well, I don't really do a whole lot. But they they gave us quote unquote, access to the state database. Kind of like an access code to work from home, which I just got fixed today. The server couldn't handle whole state. Well, yeah, that's services population jumping on the same time. Yeah. So I just got access today and I'm able to get on it. So I can't go to the office. We can't do court stuff, nothing. So it's, I have to drive 30 minutes to go out to a Husker and then drive wherever. And then that could be maybe another hour and a half, two hours to a pocket city or wherever. So yeah. The only was it was interesting. It's it's very, very interesting dynamic to, to go out and be like, Oh, now I have to drive home now, which is kind of nice. working from home is actually really, it's easy. Especially if I know I'm just going to be doing typing like all day. Like like Okay, you got a case Go Go on, go out there and drive an hour to wherever I need to first and then drive another hour. It's that that dynamic is just a little obnoxious but you know, at the same time we can't necessarily close close. Well, yeah, I mean, you know, if you know for child safety, but I'm on call this weekend anything the police call in or anything major will go to me so Whoo. Which the past few weeks knock on wood somewhere has been pretty quiet.

Collin  14:39

And so we'll we'll see how that goes. And hope it continues to be so. Right. Yeah. Especially during this time. So many kids home and stuff. Yeah, exactly. Mm hmm.

Brandon  14:58

So yeah. Colin, that leaves you.

15:08

So the the compression filter on that side, Lord. Yeah, no, I need to where was I on that started make some adjustments here.

Collin  15:19

No, it's a little odd. Yeah. Just so the department hasn't made an official statement as far as, like work from home. They just this week, I came out with a telecommuting policy. They did not have one before. A lot of people have, you know, no, no, I mean, no, they don't know. Why would you just come into work? We'd make you nice buildings. You have your own personal office, you just come to work. That's just what you do. Yeah. And it's a 75 year old institution and Just makes sense. It's just what you do. So they rapid fire got that through policy coordination and all sorts of stuff and HR and all know, things that go through policy rapidly are just one wallet away. Yeah, no. So they got that through and we were reading through it and it's basically a well you can do it, if you can justify it if you have work related to the department, and if you're doing things and sign off. And my supervisor was like, yeah, we're not like, we're gonna wait. I was like, okay, that's fine. Whatever. I just the department, everybody keeps deferring to effectively the governor. And then the president going well, we're open because we're following the guidelines of the governor's office and the Department of Human Service. human health and services are senior services, whatever. And so, every time you ask them, why are we still open? They go will the current policy is from the governor and the DHS s says, okay, so you're not actually you're deferring decisions here. Yes. Yes. I see. I see. Nobody wants to make the call. Yeah, that's

Brandon  17:25

why that's why the you know, that's kind of the It's weird. But like, a lot of this stuff is coming from like, Mayor offices. Yeah. It seems well here anyway, not let you know, some other states. The governor's like, nope, done by a lot of the ones in this area or may oral, right the mayor's just like nope, we're just not gonna do it. Sorry. We're not going to wait for these people to think maybe sometimes later, like Like here the Chamber of Commerce was like, nope, your restaurants you are you are now carry out only sorry. Like the the Chamber of Commerce within the mayor were like nope. I was already doing Yeah.

Collin  18:13

And we didn't we've never really haven't had anything like that now they did decide that they were going to oddly cancel curbside recycling. Aha, it's all just trash now. What? Wait, I don't I don't understand.

Brandon  18:32

That wasn't a

Collin  18:33

and they had to come out and encourage people to please not flush sanitizing wipes down the toilet because it's clogging our systems. I mean that's,

Brandon  18:44

that's, that's that's something that you probably ought to know anyway. But in the, again, a lot of times, you know, some people just don't use those Ever now it's all that they have. And now it's what they've got. And so they're like, oh, what do I do with it? It looks like a, you know, so no, no, no trash can. So yeah, the only weird part is like what the restaurant thing is like, there's some restaurants that aren't members of the Chamber of Commerce. So they the mayor's kind of gotta be like, yo, look. Here's what we're gonna do. They're still trying to figure that out this week, but we'll see. We'll see. Again, listeners. This is currently March 20. For some context here, though, this is our audio log. Find on your quest. Right out

Collin  19:49

through the rolls of toilet paper. Well, yeah, and that's the just the know how fast everything has changed has just been has been mind boggling. And the number of ramifications that have come down. You know, I think last week I saw an article that was like, hey, if everybody goes online, can internet handle it? And it turns out the answer is no, the answer is no. Yeah. I saw an article today that was like, the EU, and some of the people were like, yo, listen, you've got to cap your bandwidth for your streaming, like, lower. Like, we can't have all these people streaming everything in like 4k, right? It's gonna break. Your pipeline is not big enough. You've got to so like Netflix, and some other ones are like, okay, we're gonna cap it down at like, I don't remember what it was. Yeah, it was something I mean, still serviceable, obviously. And yeah, sounds like 140. But like you don't need in the middle of a global pandemic. To go, man. I don't get too much 4k on my TV from my house. It's a little it's a little ridiculous. That's true. That's true. Bye.

Brandon  21:00

That's where we are. I mean,

Collin  21:06

yeah. And yeah, so just just things along that line that come to have. We saw people being like, No, I'm going to the beach on spring break like, dude, stop. Yeah, let that let that be a model for the future generations of what happened here that where the Florida Governor was like, the beaches are open, everything's fine. I saw a meme. I saw a meme that was just the mayor from jaws. It's like no, no, the beaches are fine. Come to spring break. Oh, no. Oh, no, it's worse than that, though. Yeah, it really is. And then finally, he

21:43

was like, Well, maybe not good idea.

Collin  21:47

Yeah. Like the other thing that was weird was like the cities and everything had closed, all the restaurants and all the bars, all the businesses, but for some reason the beaches were open. Wait, I don't write the place where everybody wants to congregate anyway, I understand. There has been some just bizarre things, right? Like I saw one where some dude was getting in big trouble because he held like a church service for like 500 people like, Yo, what are you doing? Maybe not to not do that. It was in one state where the governor was like, Do not leave your house and they're like, Yeah, everybody come back like okay, you change. You got phone calls, do that. Yeah, that you can, you can do that. Well, and then yeah, the number of seats that have gone on to shelter in place, you know, California was the first one. And then Pennsylvania and Illinois have follow suit. You know, in

22:49

New York is really close behind if not already doing it. Indiana is also

Collin  22:54

Yes, I have a county map of Indiana that they had some weirdly large numbers. But again, that's That's one of those things where the numbers still, at this point are not known. Because there's apparently seven testing kits available. Right? Well, that's Yeah, I mean, all the governors are working to get I know in Missouri here, they are trying to get online. They're trying to get drive through testing locations online by April 1, which is two weeks away. Yeah, that's Yeah. Basically, I think the I think the numbers that they're estimating here are whatever is currently there. So right now here's, here's your, we're basically just over 19,000 cases in the US and people are saying it is like four to five times that Yeah, cuz I mean, that's confirmed, right? That's confirmed. Yeah. Not suspected but but that's only people who've been tested. Exactly. And, and currently the you know, it's they're still saying unless you are showing some symptoms and have contacted have been in contact with somebody who has had a positive we're not testing you like they're turning people away though it's yeah it's it's weird like

24:21

yeah, just

Collin  24:25

just the it's just a circus, right and that's the most distressing part is just the lack of like people taking it serious and like the availability of odd stuff is just like whoa, well yeah and the the run on all of the supplies at the store, quote unquote supplies toilet paper stop me doing you know what, you know what you don't know you don't know what they do or how they You're right. I don't know I don't want to know if you mean that much on paper. in your daily life, I don't want anything to do with you. Oh, yeah. And maybe maybe buy some different groceries, start there, stop with whatever is giving you that intestinal problem. Well, I think what's funny dietary changes people. So Megan and I, and you know we eat predominantly vegan and vegetarian. And so grocery shopping for us really hasn't been that impacted because apparently people would rather die of starvation in a global pandemic then eat the cheese. Or as resolved by the nice organic whole grain bread like people would just rather rather eat pizza or jelly sandwiches off of a hamburger bun. Yeah, all of our we buy some of that we buy that grain bread to date. No matter what it is. It's the weird one. It's kind of odd. It always has an odd number of slices in it. I don't know what's going on there. But it does. That it bothers you It drives me insane Why would you do that? Why would you not even numbers slicing your way? What are you making sandwiches you need to size? anyway? They had that that was all good. Like all the fruit that we wanted to buy the other day at Walmart. All there. Yeah, all the fruit in the world was there. Yeah, but if you if you were buying soda and Doritos. No, no. Yeah, like all the frozen we even bought some like frozen pizzas and stuff. It's fine. Like Wait, I don't I don't I don't understand what people are buying.

26:33

Jacob. No, no. Yeah,

Collin  26:36

I go back to the, to the milk and to the to the dairy and egg aisle, I guess. And

Brandon  26:41

yeah, all these eggs are gone.

Collin  26:43

Eggs are gone completely. All of the normal milk is gone. But if you would deign to try almond milk, you would have your choice for days.

Brandon  26:53

Yeah, no, I whatever else, it's fine,

Collin  26:55

fine, whatever I know. So at first i triggered for the rest of your life. Just carry on. A month or so you'll be exactly the sort of thing you're going. You can't even sit here and go, Oh, we're going to be locked up for two days. I gotta buy 19 and a half gallons of cow milk. Well, oh, they don't have any of that. But I will I will surely start, you know, dehydrate, man, whatever not, you know, it's just like, I mean, that's the other the unknown is how long do you have to be like this? Right. That's the question that nobody has really answered. Because the answer to that question is not a good one. Right? It's, it's a long number. Right? So what did I mean? What's different here is the difference between shelter in place which let's be honest, no state has said except no state except for the countries over in Europe are you know, they're they're bored so they're locking people in here in America though? Do you still say shelter in place, but you can still leave to get your car fixed. You can still leave to go to the hospital. You can still leave to go get food and yeah, or five Other things, and I look at that and go, I don't go anywhere else besides.

Brandon  28:04

Yeah, I mean, that's kind of like

Collin  28:05

for the time being, obviously, but I know

Brandon  28:08

that's the other name that I like what currently is. Whenever there's a global pandemic and your life has to change like zero like Yeah, when you find out

Collin  28:16

quarantine is just your normal daily life. Yeah, it was kind of funny when this first popped up and it's like, oh, make sure you stay at home. And most of the time like, I like being home like I don't have to got it. I don't have to deal with people in general. Awesome. Sweet. This is another excuse for me to be home. I'm okay with that. Yeah, yeah. You're gonna force me to have my food my groceries delivered to my door. Oh, please stop. Yeah, yeah. Also the the other prop. The other current issue is that Walmart has zero pickup times for groceries because there is a jam for because everyone's pickup which again, I'm glad that you're, you know, picking up your groceries and all that stuff. But they're there. Those are slam to. It's kind of interesting. It's good that they are doing that, you know, people are doing that using that service where they don't have to go out. And well, when this started when this started to get crazy in the US, people looked at Walmart and Amazon and went, well, you guys, you guys take care of this? Because that's, that's how they're set up. Right? Yeah. Like, that's their supply chain. This is what they do. Yeah. And, and they suffer, they can't even get, I mean, their supply chain of all this stuff. Because you think about their supply chain is there but the demand on that service is also exponentially larger. So well, which is why Amazon is hiring 100,000 people and Walmart came out today and said they're hiring 150,000 temporary workers for the rest of the year. Wow. Wow. I mean, that's good. Because a lot of people don't can't work. They don't have jobs, right. But that's just You know, like, they're willing to do that. And they're like, yeah, that is exactly. So that's good. Well, I mean, they know that their bottom line is not going to be affected. Right, because they like Yo, people are gonna buy groceries and guess what? We sell groceries. All right. And guess what our sir. Guess what we tout as our service delivering literally everything to your door. Okay, cool. I guess they are slowing down on some of their delivery stuff. Yes. I also read today that a worker in the Amazon Distribution Center in New York tested positive Yes, I did see that which is fine because they're just gonna replace everybody's robots anyway.

Brandon  30:40

Well, I mean that that's a whole other conversation for later once this is over is the Amazon working conditions anyway are notorious. Right?

Collin  30:49

Yeah. I yeah, I saw a petition today of I guess their work. They're like their distribution workers don't have sick leave. Yeah, no, nothing like that. Yeah. Yeah. where it's like, oh, yeah, you had nice like, especially all those things were like, Oh, it's, you know, a lot of hourly jobs don't have it. Yeah, have hours off. That's it. Right. So like, even when I worked in a factory, like, when I worked in the factory, you got X number of hours per vacation per year. Now, it was like, enough for Remember, a couple weeks worth, like, maybe a week and a half, but that was kind of your that was it. And you that was just kind of your pool. It didn't matter if you were sick or whatever. That's the stuff you got to use. Right? So you had to be very, like Julius with that. Right? Because if you used it up but then you got sick later on snap, so a lot of people just kind of like sat on it. And then at the end of that fiscal year, that was coming up. That's when everybody start taking vacation and rolling it over. Because you can only rollover like X number of hours to the next year. Right? So it's a you had to use it, you lose it. Yeah, use it or lose it basically. Yeah. Yeah, that's pretty nuts. Oh, also, I learned today. sad, sad. Association time. I officially know somebody that has been infected with the virus. What? Yes. Wow. There we go. So sad word association time. This is not a time for happiness. But I know somebody who has got it. They are under. They are actually missionaries in France. So they live in France. Oh my god. Yeah. Susan told me today that they had been monitored with it. So. Geez. Yeah. Yeah, they're not in France's that's great. Refer over there right now. So, yeah, that's the deal. So we'll see how that goes. But that's um, yeah. So they are they are they in home? Are they at the hospital? I think she said they're still at home. But I'm not sure. I think there's monitoring. I'll update later because I know this because I just found out about this today. So not a lot of details forthcoming currently. Sure. See, yeah, Europe is on meltdown over this. It's just, I mean, yeah, I don't really right there. So we'll see. Hopefully, we had enough lead time to sort of avoid the worst of that, but I don't know. It's Ma'am feels like people are going on lockdown a whole lot faster but I don't know if well again it's a lot of people are doing have done it like voluntarily. Yeah, yeah. A lot of people were just like yeah no I'm good now thanks. But you know it's only that it just takes that one person like not really throw a monkey wrench in there so oh yeah that's that's their the biggest one of the biggest concerns out of this is the what is the rebound look like? So let's say we make it through and into the summer and then cases go down because it's hotter and less humid or whatever. Well that's it's just exposure rate it will be limited has nothing to do with the weather. It has nothing to do with humidity is nothing more than nonsense. if everybody's at home, the case will go down because exposure will go down. Yeah, like I said, once you come Out of the foxhole of the foxhole, and all those people who have not been exposed are surfacing. Yeah, does it rigo right. That's why I was talking about how long well are you hearing the current case of the current statements are 18 months? Yeah. And that is that is mostly because they hope to have some sort of vaccine in place by then to start giving people

Brandon  35:27

without it, you know,

Collin  35:29

and and I was a couple of papers I was reading were saying like the, in order to most control the the best way the in the models, the best way to control the spread, but also allow for economic activity is for basically go on complete lockdown across the country for one month. Then open it up for two months, and then go on lockdown for another month and then two months open and do that until the vaccine comes out. Oh my gosh. That's, yeah, yeah, that was their basic best case like, Oh, ah, yeah, let's hope that those supercomputers can speed that time up a little bit. Mm hmm. Yeah. Right. And that's the other thing too is like that's given our current rate. But this is, globally there is one thing that everybody is thinking about. So you're going to say, okay, we may be able to move faster technologically than on a scale, right? Like, that's the hope, especially with just the weird stuff that you can do with like them. Network computers working like you know, that thing where they, you know, the like the great prime internet prime search, you know, this, you heard of this. thing doesn't know. So, the great internet prime search is searching for the next largest prime number, right? So one of the ways that you listeners participate in this is that you can dedicate your computer you can like sign up and so that it will use your computing power over the internet. We're not using it so like school universities do this like at nighttime, they log up onto this thing and it runs all their computer processors run. Like click up to this and it can basically spread the computing power out between more machines. Yeah, okay. I have heard that and they they they started initiative for the the for the Coronavirus Yeah, yeah, yeah, there is one so they were I was reading article in the PC Gamer actually where they were encouraging gamers to do this because their homebrew computers and like their, their graphics cards and stuff are like, perfectly set up for do there's so much processing power. Oh, yeah. They're like, yo, you know, when you go to bed, maybe, maybe just leave your rig on and, you know, click on this thing and jump on there. And so they were kind of get people to like, hey, do this, try that out, you know, help out if you can, when you're not when you're not using it, and then you can just turn it off when you want to play or whatever in weird ways. Things like that where it's like 10 years ago, that was nowhere to be seen for. Not right. Not just not actually possible. Yeah, it's neat to see. I don't know. So the bright sides of this is just the if you've seen the pictures of Venice, the canals, yeah. You know, crystal clear and dolphins swimming around Venice. And they were like, well, we have dolphins. Yeah, or I saw report today that that just just from closing the plants in China to stop the spread. Over 70,000 lives were likely saved from air pollution. Yes. Other pictures of Beijing. Yeah, there's nuts. Yeah. And they're saying in that same time, like that was probably enough to save 70 over 70,000 people's lives. The coyote population has just exploded. Also, just by the way.

Brandon  39:17

That's another thing that's happened. There are currently there are now 7000 more coyotes than they were this time last week. I'm sure.

39:25

Nobody's out there

Collin  39:26

already, like just randomly in New York anyway. And so now it's just gonna be like, coyotes everywhere. Right? See those kind of things. And more hogs

Brandon  39:41

that can't model the hogs right now. So they've no

Collin  39:44

long population going, don't you? Don't you say that? Don't you say that on on the WebEx? Yeah, that I've watched today. is still that as a mission critical thing that will must Continue. I mean, you're technically isolated. So except for when you're in the house with 40 other people, no, it's fine. You know, but no tent. Take the best Moscow hunting, no longer just don't have a a centralized bunking location, I guess I guess that's what they're gonna have to go to. But it's like, like surely they'll know Nope, nope, they'll continue with this. Okay, cool. Yeah, well, I guess they're hoping that the also in housing won't be out as well. Yeah, that's true. Also, during this time, I don't know if anybody else has been monitoring the situation, but there is just one really bizarre thing that's been going on. And that is any guesses at first, and those were guesses of just in all this, there's something that's continuing to happen and it's just the weird is strangest thing you've ever seen continuing to abound in this time of crisis? I don't. I don't even want to guess. And guesses. No one guessed. Hey, are you ready? Yes, you need to read up about just the Bizarro world. That is currently WWE wrestling.

41:32

Okay,

Collin  41:32

thank you for being here. It's the weirdest thing they've been. They haven't canceled any shows yet. They have been doing live shows from they're locked down Performance Center in Florida. And the wrestling that they have had is like no crowd. Okay. Oh, it's just a bit. It's a building. There's a ring In this room, there's no crowd. There's no nothing. Just weirdness. Right. It's it's the it's the weirdest thing you've ever seen. Right? It's just bizarre. That's so not what this is all about. Yeah, right. It is 100% a crowd participatory event. Right? That's the whole point. Right? It's not like, you know, basketball or whatever, where there's a game happening. Regardless of the crowd, is the crowd is it? It's very, it's very Roman esque, in that manner. Like it's very like gladiatorial. It's a very strange thing. But it's that if they've been doing that, and it's so weird, they just kind of like follow what's going on and what's happening. Also because it is almost time for WrestleMania and they currently have not cancelled it. Oh, they are well I mean, they canceled the live event, right? They're planning on doing it the same way like in an empty room and so it's it's so they're talking about like pre recording it and stuff you know i don't know i don't know what's on your head this week. But if Shana watches wrestling like all the time, so this is what we've been following in our house right? Is the development in in World Championship Wrestling? No, sorry. World Wrestling. Entertainment. Sorry.

43:34

Get it? They actually got sued by the World Wildlife Foundation they did one

Collin  43:39

time ago. Yes. Well, I just said World Championship Wrestling, which is definitely WCW that's been a long time ago. Yeah, any anyway. Oh, she's like a big wrestling fan. Right. So just watching it's been like Bizarro world, but even more So then normal because it's always kind of Bizarro world, right? Yeah, like cuz there's always just like, soap opera with body slams, you know? It's so weird to watch to see it and like, watch people wrestle with like no audience. Then like, just kinda like, you know how their practice sessions are, I guess. Yeah, it looks like you're watching a practice and they still the other day, they were cutting promos, you know, like talking, like, what's going on? Like, there's no audience. Nobody is like, popping or anything like that, you know, they're just like, and then, like, where somebody will be shouting something from the crowd. It's like, Oh, it's so weird. It is so strange. Like I don't. Well, it's one of those like, I guess. Again, for those of you spoiler alert, Wrestling's not real. I mean, the now actions now are like, like the Like the pain and the moves that they do is obviously very real. But like it's it's a it's a show. It's an I think there's a difference between there's a difference between scripted and not real. We write Yes. Like that's it like, are they actually mad at each other? No, no. Are they actually jumping off the top of the cage to the table? Yes. Yes, they are. Yeah, like I think that's the wrong term. There's like listening to someone like the is there sometimes I've listened to a Stone Cold Steve Austin's podcast. Yeah, we had some of the old timey wrestlers Come on. And there's like actual, like, a lot of beef between actual like real wrestlers. And also just for the record, listening to the undertaker talk is so weird because he's so country. Yeah, he's from Texas. Yeah, like I was in there and it you know, I was listening to you know, Stone Cold Steve Austin and then talking to the under Take her, and he was just like in jeans and like a T shirt. And like a hat. He's like, Yeah, man, I'll just come up and I'm like, I know. Side note, Susan's favorite wrestler of all time is the undertaker, The Undertaker. And like they like they had cocaine on there. And he was like a business and Oh, you mean the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee? Yeah, yeah. Also, what came out? And he's like, yeah, so like, when I used to wrestle, it was like, he can speak. Yeah, he's turns out he's not actually burned. He's not actually from hell. I know. Also the undertaker. Fun fact. Not actually dead. See, you say that, but Well, I don't. We don't know for sure. But maybe that contraction just is covered. Right? It's an energy. He's actually is a dead man. And he pulls you into a false sense of security. Yeah. No, yeah. Some of it isn't like some of the stuff Have you read like I think Bret Hart was on this last week, right? We've seen that one yet. No, not that I don't know if they talked about the most famous Bret Hart moment of all time, but like the Montreal screwjob is a real? Yeah, no. Yeah, I have okay. That's messed up. Like the part of the videos on like Facebook, but I've never known like, what does it actually What are they talking about?

Brandon  47:22

Yeah, he wasn't supposed to lose that title. Right? He was he was supposed that he didn't think he was gonna lose that they totally

Collin  47:30

Yeah, that whole thing is some behind the scenes stuff. Oh my gosh. Yeah, cuz he was it was like a quick recap as he was leaving to go to WCW and Vince didn't want him to leave with the title the title Yeah, so he was all like no, I'm gonna wait he was in like Montreal, Canada, like his home country. Yeah, they had a lot this Shawn Michaels on like the weirdest like quick count thing ever. Oh my goodness. It's so crazy. It's Yeah, so some of that stuff is like nuts. But yeah, it's so scripted. Yes. Also, if you have not seen that last year's NXT wargames, where I think Tommaso Champa back body drops some dude off the top of the cage through a table. Oh, yo, watch that. I think it was sponsored champion. I think it was Johnny gargano. Maybe it was gargano I don't know. But you know, like, watch that. Just watch that clip. He's like, I know like it itself. They have been killed, like the WWE. They are a dead. No. doesn't like have like full medical for their performers and athletes. And so that's why people like Rowdy Roddy Piper had to come out of retirement just so he can help pay for or things like that. Yeah, it's really weird the way that it's all structured like that, right? It's not like they don't. So they're like, technically classified as independent contractors. Yeah. So when they travel, they have to do it. They pay for their travel and hey, so I don't you know, I don't know the breakdown Exactly. Like there's a video that I watched and I could probably send it to you, but it talks about a lot of that stuff. Like that. smell. Yeah, I just know, I've seen like, vlogs of some of the wrestlers, right? And you know, kind of just like what they do. And you can see like, they're in a car there. They got a rental car. They are flying to the airport here. They are like, it's basically like, hey, next week, we're gonna be here yet they're just there by Okay. Um, all right. I mean, I understand that's kind of how it works. Right. So Like, it's really bizarre. It's like a really weird, bizarre, strange, strange land, man. Sure, it's even more so when you watch them wrestling, no crowd. Like, because I was really disappointed like I really wanted the xfl to be, like successful because there was the A f that came out last year and it I liked the AF. I was so on board with AF. I was just starting to get like real good. And then like no one wanted to come anymore. I know the xfl was actually doing relatively decent and just canceled the rest of their season. Yeah, and like in hockey, baseball, early baseball postponed until, you know, maybe later basketball, shut down. NCAA sports, high school athletics. And that was kind of one of the things that like, you know, people were like, Oh, you know, we actually have a chance to can You knew on for like football careers and then High School everything because Shane is a state music finals got canceled also. Yeah and I knew like I knew some seniors this year the school that I was at and fbla cuz she made to state fbla again to oh gosh yeah and found that you know the because there's some things on like a sports center or they're like we'll send us your you know the seniors video like honor them and I thought that was really cool. Yeah, cuz this your seniors man. Yeah. Yeah, that's why I like the AF is because they had all those dudes like you're like, Oh, yeah, that guy from like watching college football. Yeah, it's like show up. And then just for whatever reason. Like they

51:46

were so close

Collin  51:46

to the end of the season, too, right? They were almost there. And they couldn't make it. So I was also very, very happy with, like a football team actually being back in St. Louis. It was kind of cool. St. Louis battle hawks had some cool coaches, right? They had some good coaches show up. They had bad the steeps was down in Dallas like yeah, they had. Yeah, just a lot of that stuff was and I was just I was really sad when the St. Louis Rams left now becoming the LA Rams. And like that was huge for St. Louis. Like you're taking our football team away like really and then the battle hawks come in you're like heck yeah. I like I just I was cool. Because the the way they had the pay structure was kind of neat, right? Like everybody's just getting paid this. You get bonuses for like performing not anything else. What was the biggest problem? I think of the AF. One of the big problems. Was that, like, it felt like they were like, okay, here's a team game next week. The VA for the xfl the Oh yeah. So first For the first like two weeks, the games were it was bad. Yeah, right. It was bad. But a lot of that was because they were like, we had a week and a half of practice and now we're playing this game. Oh, oh, no. Like you're like, man, the quarterbacks not throwing like yeah, cuz he hasn't practiced his receiver at all at all Oh line is just got together. Oh no. Yeah, it's like hey guys well it's a running tie every day is practice day. Yeah, so I feel like the xfl at least had a they think they saw that like yellow. Yeah, they have another week of bragging. They actually have like, you know, like an offseason kind of. But again, it was because it's the first season it's hard to have an off season. But you know, they actually had time they actually had promotions before that because they just kind of, yeah, and here's football and so they're kind of like Like, oh, I guess we have football now. But the xfl is just kind of like, oh, there's a ball coming up like I'm more anticipated. And even though like the numbers have kind of are we're kind of declining but they're like still up. And so I was just a big thing ever see intendance numbers that have the right because the TV numbers they don't usually matter that much just those live numbers. Yeah. Because that's where that money comes in from LA that stuff, live money and then the advertising. So I guess you do TV ratings for advertising. But it's, yeah, it was. It was really cool to see because like, you know, there is one player that was the quarterback and at Oklahoma State. His name is Taylor Cornelius, but everyone called him corndog. And so it was really cool. As an unfortunate thing in bright green and yellow uniform for the Tampa Bay Vipers MMA fighter,

55:01

like so. Like we were down in Oklahoma City with my friends at a at a bar and even though there isn't an Oklahoma City Thunder game going on, we're like, oh, can we watch the NFL?

Collin  55:11

They're like, why? Like because we're OSU fans, and corndog is playing quarterback and they're like, Oh, okay. And yeah, we watched the full NFL game when there's a live Thunder game going on. Vince McMahon was a crazy person and I want to see what happens. It was my first time watching the xfl when it was off. I never actually watched it because I was so sad. That the AF or whenever they make it, and then plus, it was really it's a weird time to start football because you just get done with all the NFL. You're like, do I need more football right now? Yeah, I'm plus basketball. Baseball. Hockey is already in full swing. Yeah, like he like a little like, that's my biggest complaint about baseball season is 11 months long. It's so so long baseball that it's no snow isn't long enough. There's there's baseball. I'm on TV all year. All right, it goes it's literally from what is it? It's like from February to October, like the beginning of November sometimes like I can't. I can't. I can't watch that was baseball. If you can't figure out who's the best team in way less time than that, like what's even the point? Like why? Why I why you got play 27 games against the same team. Is that necessary? Just to make sure because you never know. Like, I'm never wrong guys. I understand again, system again. I understand these things. Right. I understand that baseball is a very, like, my it's a game of my new show. Yeah, right. Which is what One of the reasons that I can't even be bothered is it just I can't I can't deal with that much. Like just little teeny tiny minute. Just like weird esoteric stuff like we have I got this guy batting average against left handed hitters is this but like I can't okay this the is this also I don't like statistics I've never been a fan of statistics so baseball just right out right? Nope, nevermind JK oh no I think it's just way too much it's so bad like because it's like why I love baseball I love coaching it but yeah I couldn't care about I mean like if you're coaching it that's like a different aspect. Yeah, and I mean, I like playing it like middle school, but like, like watching it just like I don't like it's cool but just this is the ball with You're not the Cardinals dad. Okay? But as you do it the games are just so long. And again part of this is my attention span is like 45 seconds long right? So like I can't whatever so sitting there just watching it like I understand all these things like on a fundamental level like I know what's happening right I understand all the weird not all of them. But I know about some like the the weird shifting and stuff and the strategy in the block now not like to a great degree, because I just tuned it out eventually and just stop. Like, it's just too much as to is to evolve. I can't do that. And then first, like one exciting thing happens. Like the whole game. But that one thing, right if you watch the sports in highlights, you would think that baseball was like literally the most exciting game ever. You got to watch it those three highlights. Those three highlights there came from a five hour game. I know if you realize like, oh, there was like five other hours of stuff. Oh, no. I mean, I don't super love basketball either. But I think one of the most exciting things about basketball is the clock. Right? Well, yeah, like it's boom like that's it. Like there's this minute time frame in which to accomplish all these things. Baseball is just like such an open ended disaster. nine innings not enough. All right. How about 10? No, that still not enough? How about like, wait a minute, right? We'll just go till the end. Like what? What? No, I, I think all sports should be handled like European Soccer League. Right. That's what it should. That's how it should work like the league in England. Yeah, right. So If you're unfamiliar, that league works like, if you win a game, you get three league points. If you tie a game, you get one. And if you lose, you get zero. The team with the most league points at the end of the season is the champion. Done. It's the best. It's so good. I've cut and dry. You just win the most games and you win. Done. Like all right, well, wait. So are you saying the more you win? The more you win? Yes, I am saying wait a minute. I think this is a bit too. I don't know about this. I know I like it. Again, I maybe it's just the context of the soccer. It makes soccer is is a little bit more exciting. Typically. That I like it just because well one of the reasons I like to watch soccer on television is no commercials in soccer. Because the clock doesn't stop ever, except for halftime. So when were you? Yeah. Didn't you know he was 40? Well, I mean, in the stadiums in England, you'll notice they're on those little boards around the outside, constantly. They have those revolving led boards. That's your commercials, right? It's like boom, McDonald's, boom, boom, Adidas, like, whatever. Like, that's where your advertising comes in. Because you don't have television. So it's 45 minutes of just soccer. And then halftime 45 minute when the clock gets 90, boom done. I mean, of course there's those reps with no time add. Your team is up. This is the worst part of soccer. Your team is up by one point. And then the ref add five minutes of stoppage time. Why do you do it? There wasn't even any sub Why stop. Why are you doing it? I hate that. So much. strong opinions strong. Yeah that's good. Yeah, guys my favorite boy to watch on TV was woke up is awesome. Well, yeah, obviously. So especially the Women's World Cup because the US women's team is amazing. They really, really doing well. The men's World Cup is getting to except for if you want to watch the US men then sorry boys, but I'm Yeah, yeah, no no, I've been going so hot last couple times. Oh, sorry. Fine. still fun. One day. Hmm, Probably not, but it's fine. One can hope it's fine. It's fine. Uh Oh, goodness. No, you guys. What's your week look like? Yeah, no, I'm gonna play more video games a week. Yeah. Yeah, I think I'm gonna buy a book or read some more of these books. No, I've got all these books here and I don't really well, yeah, the problem is I really want I got none. I don't have any books that none of these I want to read right now. Right is the good the great problem in my life is I have all these books and I'm like, but what about this other book? I don't have the other one would probably be better for 10 it's probably would be

63:42

it's kind of a good thing that Amazon did kind of shut down because I'm probably spending be spending this time buying books.

Collin  63:56

Well, yeah, I mean, non essentials, essentially because well, they're not restocking them. So they whatever they have right now. They're shipping out because I bought a book the other day. Right, but they're not they're not accepting new shipments into there. Yeah. And they're cutting off from third party sellers, right. So if it's fulfilled by Amazon, or like it's in their warehouse already, they'll send it to you. But if they run out, they're not going to get more. Ah, so if you're like, oh, man, I need this book. And it's out. Well, it's sort of out indefinitely. But you could get another one. The shipping might take longer, too, because they're prioritizing some other stuff. That's fine. Echoing so yeah. But I have my eye on a couple more. I do but I just consider I want to read I want to read some fantasy. I decided and so they want wonderings and fantasy and I have zero. So that doesn't really work out. So I've done that. I did decide to replay one of my video games. I've been doing that Okay, big. Now that was a hard choice. choose carefully because I was like, oh, man, I could play Fallout. Oh, maybe not. Maybe I want to play that right now. Yeah. Not be a little too close to home at the moment. Valid.

Brandon  65:21

Okay, yeah, I've been i like i like it. controversially, I like Fallout four, but I was like

Collin  65:29

maybe not that one. Yeah. So if Assassin's Creed origins Oh yeah, even better, even better. Oh it doesn't love wandering around Ptolemaic Egypt assassinating people. I mean, is that right? Sounds good, right? a camel. Do you have one do that? Right? camels Ptolemaic Egypt. boom, done. You're having your kids play that in class, or no, no, no, no. That's what I heard. Well, that's kind of why I wanted to play it too, because we just got done talking about ancient Egypt. And I was like, yeah, that was really cool. I was into it. And I was like, I don't play this now. It's kind of, it's very late very late Egypt. Right? Ptolemaic Egypt is like, the end basically. That's when this game is. Also, they really gotta get this naming thing down, because they're not really good at naming things. Because this one is called Assassin's Creed origin. Okay, which is Ptolemaic Egypt. Right? The game that came after that was called Assassin's Creed Odyssey and definitely takes place during the Peloponnesian War, which in case you didn't know, happens before Ptolemaic Egypt you know, it's details like that, that prevent you from enjoying life. Oh, No I played the heck out that game is like the best one good like but I know I was like wait a minute this was origins but then this other one happens before what's going on for whatever I don't care let me game not history run through Ancient Greece instead people and ran with my Trireme right all I want to do yeah that's why I decided to do was play some Assassin's Creed origins and randomly checked my school email and see if the kids are doing anything that's it

67:44

yeah until further notice it's kind of just on hold on

Collin  67:47

yeah well especially yeah yeah yeah I'm not that I'm hoping for this but i am i'm hoping for the governor to next week make a call and be like all government Oh government employees needs That's already the way Yeah. Is the only way that they're gonna. The department's gonna shut down. Yeah, yeah. Which I get, but again, a lot of it could be remote in. Right. There's no reason that a lot of it can't just be remote. Well, in fact that in the fact that they said that that time could be used to take online training. I was like, heck yeah, I've got like 40 different things saved. That would be amazing to do. But it'd be the best time to take you know, get some get some get refreshed and certifications or get new ones or, or you could read you could read the Oxford history of ancient Egypt. So that's another book I have laying here. Oh, that's like training for your that's for my job. You're gonna teach Egyptian history is the book that you might want to read? No They're not on. It looks really good. I mean, I'm into it. I'm ready for sure. I got a fish. So first though, I was thinking more like fisheries management stuff, but that's cool too. So I'm almost almost done with that my copy of the Egyptian Book of the Dead, right? Or going forward by day.

69:18

Pretty good but the HU Civ tome of a

Brandon  69:21

It's good. It's super interesting, right? Doesn't all make sense. But it's very interesting. Weird

Collin  69:32

some people a lot of life these days. That's true. Doesn't make sense. Interesting. For sure. You know life lessons. I'll update you next time. If my fantasy book comes in. I sorry, man to tell you let's you know that's a good review incoming of Okay, whatever it was, I ordered. A big long name. I'll tell you next time. Good. Can't remember the name Exactly.

70:03

Good start,

Collin  70:04

I looked really good. It's one of those ones that I saw in Barnes noble, like, six months ago, and it was kind of gigantic. And I was like, Man, I'm not, I wouldn't have time to read that, well turns out so we're gonna do that. I have a back stack here of like a obscenely large back catalogue of National Geographic magazines that I haven't read. Slowly, I'll flip through slowly through some of those. I like to just some of them. I like those too, because, like, very rarely do I read all of it. Right. But I read the articles that seem interesting, and then go but I have a very large pile. So um, well, I'm glad you have a little bit of time to start playing Wait, what's the problem is like, my attention span being what it is, but sometimes I'm like, I should do this. No, I should do that. Or I should do this. I should and I'm like, ah, like I can't. Yes, I'm doing one. Yes. Yeah. So that's a problem. But hopefully, hopefully you'll learn some discipline by the end of this. Yeah, Not likely. Not like it's probably not. Now. I mean, I haven't learned this fire. There's only been getting worse really. So I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. So we'll see. Okay, well, then we are. We'll check in on that next time. Then you go. And hopefully by the end I won't be. I'll be working from home and all will be well. We'll see. I don't know my my friend who's at home with her two kids. She says just been going gray. lousy.

Brandon  72:09

Yeah, especially cuz today was like mega cold and they couldn't like go outside and do stuff.

Collin  72:13

Yeah. Yeah, that wasn't fun. I didn't enjoy the cold today but I'm looking forward to at least just like spreading my workload throughout and just you know, like that's what I'm looking forward to getting shorter bursts and being able to have put the kids down for naps and have longer time in the morning and I'm looking forward to that. But yeah, we'll see we'll see how we do it though cuz that's what I would do. I'd be like, Oh my God, this this this. I get like five minutes and eight thing done and like not finishing it who like, sure. I did sit down at my desk, and sit down my desk today do some stuff. Oh, to watch that video that WebEx and I started looking at my desk I was like, I need I need to dust this and then like it completely ignored the WebEx for about 10 minutes it's like no no dogs yeah see?
