Collin  00:05

Welcome to Oh, brother, a podcast of three brothers trying to figure everything out with your hosts, Brandon, Pollan, and Aaron. On this week's show. Kansas, Jim. Hello. Hello. How are you?

Brandon  00:28

Pretty good. I think freezing cold other than that.

Collin  00:36

I got a real feel today.

00:38

What was it like? 21 all day?

Brandon  00:40

glue? Yeah, really?

Collin  00:42

Yeah, we started off with a nice drizzle this morning, which moved into sleet, which moved into snow, which moved out to sleet. And then we've moved back into snow. Like all day. Oh,

Brandon  00:57

we just had rain all day. I think right now it's thinking about freezing rain, though. I think it's thinking awful hard about it. But that's Yeah, I

Collin  01:06

bet it is. I would No no, I'm, I'm such a winter person, though. Like, this kind of stuff makes me happy.

Brandon  01:17

is fine. But like, it was just like I wore the biggest problem I had today was today this week is Red Ribbon Week at school. Right? And so you know, drug free, all that stuff. And so I was trying to get paid and the only us today was like michmash mismatched sock day. Okay, apparently. Yeah. And the only socks I have that are not just black crew socks are like dress socks material. Right. So I wore today to school. Oh no. My super thin dress sock material. Socks. I found one Batman sock and one Yoda sock that I had randomly. And so I wore those but back then. Like I didn't wear I wore like my canvas shoes today because it was gonna be entitled a freeway for that combo was not that warm on the toes. So like, that's all day is like, hey, my feet are so cold right now.

02:35

Okay, Amy. Yeah, I can I can do that. That would that make sense? My one might be a bit rude.

Brandon  02:43

Yes. So I other than that is fine. Aloha. They turn on the heater in my room classroom today too. So it smelled Looky there for a while.

Collin  02:58

I love that first heater smell.

Brandon  03:00

Yeah. And you know, sixth graders are just so with it. That when you tell them I'm going to turn the heater on. It's going to smell bad. And then like two minutes, one of them's like, you want to smell? I'm not even gonna ask a question. Because I literally just told you that. So I'm not even gonna justify it. Yeah.

Collin  03:27

Okay, well, anyway. Real, real questions.

Brandon  03:35

Yeah. Sometimes they do that they ask me a question just because they think they're funny. And I'll just go anyway, and I'll ask somebody else. Yeah,

Collin  03:45

one over on Mr. Funkhouser trying to be a smart alec.

Brandon  03:50

I know what it's all about to be a smart alec sixth grader. Yeah. Can I outsmart her let me get out of here. That's the that's the real issue here is I'm going to win

04:09

the most

Brandon  04:11

metallicky sixth grade. I know your tricks.

04:20

Grew up.

Brandon  04:22

Yeah. Haha. I am at Toys R Us in take that. Are you going down? took that seriously?

Collin  04:40

Yeah, it was a it was my full time job. Okay, perfect. Don't Don't spoil it brothers.

04:48

Yeah. Speaking.

Collin  04:54

Good. Yes.

Brandon  04:55

So how's it down in Oklahoma, Aaron? Yeah. Oh, nice and cold and rainy, too.

Aaron  05:00

called the other day it was if we didn't have to go out today until it, it rained all day it was cold right now it says 33 and it's read somewhere that it was the earliest winter warning advisory in Oklahoma history. So there we go. dope. So an individual in the next room is hoping that school canceled tomorrow for it if the weather continues to get bad it's not

05:37

gonna get that bad.

Aaron  05:38

It's there's already been some schools down here that's been like, yeah, nah, we're not gonna bother with it tomorrow.

Brandon  05:45

Are you full of a bunch of forelands like, Oh, no, it's

05:47

too rainy. We're

Brandon  05:48

gonna have screws there. Come on, dude. Texas it's true. There was one snowflake stop every day

06:01

cars on my road bike in the middle of a quote winter storm. Perfect.

Aaron  06:09

No, yeah, it's been Yeah, I to turn the computer on today. Yeah, I had to kind of open up the door because it was like that. It was that feeling of is this gonna set my fire alarm off? Should I be worried about this? Yeah,

Brandon  06:26

right.

Aaron  06:28

So yeah, I kind of had to play it safe. But

Brandon  06:31

the magazine ready for wave it over? Everything.

Aaron  06:36

I had the door. I had the door open, just in case. Yeah, I was I was not about that life of which

Brandon  06:43

problematically makes the heater turn on more. Yeah. So

Aaron  06:49

as long as well. I think it was good. But no, it was. It's It's good. It was cold. Today, like all day.

06:58

no bueno. But at least

07:02

I have the heater in I have closed. But yeah, it was miserable all day. So

Aaron  07:11

that's kind of kind of how my day has been.

Brandon  07:14

It's good that you didn't have to go out and drive about and Well, I

Aaron  07:18

do have I do have to Morrow. And so that is that's kind of the

Brandon  07:24

supposed to be warmer tomorrow. No.

Aaron  07:29

And, and so yeah, I'm little, I'm kind of I'm pretty much dreading that. Of what to get ahead of tomorrow. So I'll be out. Probably most of the day. I have a I have a family I need, like five in the afternoon. And so I'm gonna be I'm gonna be out pretty much like And so yeah, I'm not thrilled but of what tomorrow brings, though. We'll see. We'll see what

Brandon  07:58

happens. Well, hopefully it doesn't snow upon you.

Aaron  08:05

Yeah, it's going on kind of expecting if it's not gonna be snowing until it's at least going to be the sleet and so.

08:17

Oh, yeah. Tomorrow brigs for me, at least anyways.

Brandon  08:25

Excitement, man. Whether sweat I'm double socks. And

Aaron  08:33

it was a holiday was like Wednesday or last week like Wednesday or Thursday. Shelby myself went down to one oak field, where the Tulsa drillers minor league tank for the other Tulsa drillers who the minor league team play in a walk with a drill I believe for Yeah. There's a nice little theme is there's there was the Oilers. The soccer team now also the

Collin  09:03

Tulsa football club.

Aaron  09:06

We only watch they had this really cool thing where they had a they had this trick or treat thing for kids. And give got the dress up. People got to dress up and they had like these different stations around the stadium where people could get candy. No, I did not dress up. But we got to go in and watch Game for the World Series, which by the time they got to the fifth inning was roughly 40 degrees so or lower. So it was like oh man, baseball hats high. It's really good during the winter time.

Brandon  09:37

Oh, yeah. Everyone loves it.

Aaron  09:40

So yeah, we did. Needless to say, we did not stay the whole time.

09:45

But

Aaron  09:46

that was we did that and then as we can we did that. Ooh, what it was that Saturday. And then yeah, that's what that's all that we've been been up to down here. At least. We carved pumpkin Going to a pumpkin patch or participate in the Halloween festivities this weekend. Man which a costume has not been selected?

10:16

Are you going to do a couples costume

10:20

now? Well,

Aaron  10:23

it was discussed of some do it have some sort of Bonnie and Clyde kind of thing. But that has yet been negotiated at the table.

Brandon  10:37

Still time. There's a few days. We have we have all the days. Not all five days.

Aaron  10:54

But yeah, that's kind of kind of what are trying to plan something and get good colleagues or some friends together and do something for Halloween. We carved pumpkins the other day, which I have not done since high school, maybe freshman sophomore year of high school. So I have not with my artistic creativity has not been brought out with a canvas of pumpkin in many years. So I was I was definitely

Brandon  11:32

used to the old triangles calling. No,

Aaron  11:35

I actually I actually painted a an OSU thing

11:42

on the pump.

Aaron  11:43

Well, it was it was a sharpie, and then I got to stay in the lines of the Sharpie. So I carved carbs out as best I could. But I go the

Brandon  11:56

block letters as you the crazy like shading thing where you like, halfway, I

Aaron  12:01

couldn't get guests crazy need all this stuff, right? Because I was like, Oh, no, totally doing this. But I I bought like the kind of really the cheapo carving tools. And so it wasn't in the moment I put it in the palm get it like bent immediately. And I was like, Oh, whoops.

Brandon  12:21

Yeah, those little knife things are not really the greatest but they weren't. Okay, we have some of those somewhere. We have like a Ziploc bag full of them in some drawer.

12:29

Yeah.

Brandon  12:31

Sure, either yet, so I don't know if

Aaron  12:42

I bought them. Last week we before and just kind of on a whim was really cool if we. We did this and then now they've been sitting in our little kitchen thingy. And so I was like, Oh, we should probably go ahead and you know, put them out there and see what happens. And now we're just like, oh, he had a Halloween movie marathon. Ah, we will Oh, yeah. Well, we we attempted the other night to watch the actual, like, legitimate, like horror film and I just don't do or films like, I'm just not like the biggest fan of them. Yeah, be nice. And then really, mostly because I was tormented by a particular older brother watching dark videos.

Brandon  13:30

I never watch it for the dark. That wasn't me.

Aaron  13:34

It was one of you and a certain Jacob up in Illinois. Oh, no.

Brandon  13:37

We discussed this before. That was Tales from the Crypt. Yeah, sounds good. Yeah, that's come up before. Hello, Jake. Yeah, are you? Yes.

Aaron  13:46

Ah, but yeah, so it was I was like, yeah, I'm not not the biggest fan of like horror films. So we did that. And then, uh, we watched watched all of the Hannibal Lecter movies, and will earn

Brandon  14:02

the lambs the sounds of the sheep's Countess horror. I don't know about the second one. It's really not red. Red Dragon. Yeah, there's red dragon. No, no, there's another one. Just silence of the sheep's Hannibal Hannibal I don't think I would count as that one's not very scary.

Collin  14:20

lambs. It is. It's a joke. Haha.

14:25

Sounds other lamb chops and cool.

Brandon  14:29

Red dragons kind of creepy expensive lenses. pretty creepy.

Aaron  14:32

Yeah. Oh, so we watch we watch those. And then yesterday or Saturday we kind of we kind of changed it up with kind of the good old classics.

Collin  14:43

Hocus Pocus.

Aaron  14:45

We watch halloweentown today.

14:49

We bought a home wash. It was another Disney movie that we do. perceivers

Brandon  14:57

and you could watch the preschoolers. It's a bad

Aaron  14:59

Disney But first we'll add that to the list. It is a scary movie.

Brandon  15:05

I have I bought a DVD at Walmart one time for like $7 that is like I say, horror movies like Bram Stoker's Dracula. Like good Bela Lugosi, you know, and then, like the Wolf Man with launching whatever.

15:23

Yeah, yeah.

Brandon  15:25

Those are definitely interesting to watch. The one

Aaron  15:28

of they're very different movies. One of the films that actually like legitimately kind of freaked me out when I was younger in that kind of classic genre. Is the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Oh, yeah. Uh, I don't know if it was just the black and white of the whole thing just I think so

Brandon  15:44

that adds something to it. Like legitimately

Aaron  15:45

freaked me out, but I I fully enjoyed that film.

Brandon  15:51

Some of those movies is pretty good. Some of them are so ridiculous when you watch them now. Like, basically movie them. Right? It's like a giant, giant space ants or something. It's literally ants, but they're like a massive monster creature.

Aaron  16:11

Over because there's Yeah, there's a West Cravens movie called like this day.

Brandon  16:17

Oh, yeah. And this is like for the 40s or the hockey I think it's called them and it's just dance.

Aaron  16:27

So some of those like some of the I'm not like it's not like an older film, but um, oh, I would have Dr. oldman row, or whatever. Older movie, the black and white ones freaked me out. And then another one. Val Kilmer. I thought it was funny, but I was still scared of it.

Brandon  16:45

I didn't see that one. I don't think you're not really missing much. Again. I'm like you I don't really I'm not really into horror movies. I've seen like, A Nightmare on Elm Street. Yeah. Like the first Friday the 13th movie is good.

Aaron  17:04

Modern horror films just like I'm not like some of them are good. Like, yeah, some of them but less. I'm

Brandon  17:12

just like, oh, stabby stabby murder murder you like, Okay,

Aaron  17:16

I know. I know things like like the first saw was was kind of in between that, you know, that psycho thriller. And

Brandon  17:23

yeah, but I caught that movie halfway through. So I was over. Yeah, like, man.

Aaron  17:28

But yeah, some of the some of the newer movies like, like the none, or

Brandon  17:33

I haven't watched any. I think since the first like, around the time the first saw came out. That's when I was in college. And I think that's really the last time I watched like a quote unquote, yeah, you horror movie like, Oh, it's so scary. Like, I just can't I'm not into it. Oh,

Aaron  17:49

because I um, I definitely remember going up in Kansas City to watch him not channel on the signs or signs. And all that horror. Yeah, but I was little and it's so freaky. I guess it's

Brandon  18:02

like thriller ish, right? Yeah. And then

Aaron  18:04

I definitely remember watching. Oh, it was another night. gemenon on on

Brandon  18:12

the village village. Yeah, I caught that one too. You know, my friends. We were at the palace. Right? Yeah, we are watching it because that's what you do. You got to watch the movie. And we were there. And we all were like, hey, wouldn't it be funny if this happened? And it totally happens like see, till

Collin  18:33

we get out.

Brandon  18:34

I think I watched the ring in high school. Maybe? That's all with the television. Yeah, the movie went oh, I watched that one is is fine. But like it's not into I don't like that. Like and a lot of them aren't like the like you said the modern ones aren't like scary. stabbing stabby you're gonna become murdered now. Like, okay, yeah.

Collin  19:00

Well, cool. I guess how much how much gore? Can we throw up on the screen? How

Brandon  19:04

much splattered? Yeah, that's gave it right. But like some of the old ones like the, the old like, you know, like the like acid like whipped cream. And like some of those old movies are like, they're scary because they're like, you have absolutely no idea what's happening. Right? It's like all like creepy and like, sneaky scary like that. Yeah. So what oh, what was the

Collin  19:25

original Night of the Living Dead? Right like,

Brandon  19:28

yeah, that Yeah,

Collin  19:29

really scary because of just how real it is and how ruthless what's actually taking place there. But it's not like it's sure it's got a little gory, but it's mostly this like, psychic, you know, psycho thriller. It's

Brandon  19:45

like a logical part. Yeah,

Collin  19:47

yeah. really messes with you. And I like that.

Brandon  19:52

That's what the ring was kind of good about was that they didn't show like a lot of the stuff he's not like the after effects have been like that. They've creepy ness of the girl being a round or like and they were trying to like figure out why she was there to stop right everything. So that part was kind of messed up. Yeah, like, you know, whenever I said there was another one that I watched it was not bad. I don't know what it was now. My thought left me

Aaron  20:19

there's another film that was, um I remember going to see I don't know why, uh, when when paranormal activities came out

20:32

Oh yeah,

Aaron  20:32

I was Yeah, I was in that was a high school. And some of us got the brilliant idea to go after a football game. And I just remember coach Scruggs saying that you boys won't last in that movie. I remember going to go. I remember going to see Wizard of Oz and those monkeys scared the hell.

Brandon  20:54

Ah,

Aaron  20:56

we're in the of course. We're all like, whatever in it. Yeah, no. I remember I was freaked out by that film. I was not I was not having fun with it. I was. But I definitely remember going you know, stuff like that. But as far as like, horror films, like any go see in theaters I had.

Brandon  21:15

Yeah, I don't think I've seen many in theaters now. It wasn't really. He said you went into kisi I was gonna say something about that. I don't know which one. When you said you went somewhere in solid. that triggered a memory and I can't remember what it was now. Anyway. Oh, yeah. We watched the I can't remember. I don't think we saw the theaters. But I remember I watched it with a bunch of people. The Blair Witch Project. Remember this? Yeah. phenomenon.

21:39

Yes.

Brandon  21:43

That one's all weird though. Because like it has like this weird secondary thing around it where like, that was like a little different. Because that was the beginning of the internet. Right? And so like, the website for that movie was like, similar, like, Oh, yeah, no, it's

Collin  21:58

totally real.

Brandon  22:00

Because it was found footage movie, you know? So the website was all like, ambiguous about everything. So you're like, Wait, is this actually happened? Like people were legitimately confused? Like, did this really happen? Like I don't understand. Is this really a movie? Is this like, actual found footage documentary? What the heck is happening? They like legit they like purposely blurred the line for marketing. Yeah, right. And that's why everybody was so like, wanting to see it because they were like, what the heck is going on? Why is this a thing? What is happening? Why is this movie so weird? And then everybody got motion sickness from that stinking camera like shaky can just look like oh, here's the ground and then here's this tree and then here's the shaky camera. That's why Yeah, something

22:54

stopped self stabilizing for some reason. Yeah, I

Brandon  22:57

need some Dramamine right now. I can't watch the movie. is pretty much yeah. The only movies I want to watch. They're like halloweeny really ever doesn't like Addams Family movies, because it's kind of funny. is like Young Frankenstein. Which we made Shana watch the other day is our duty. Right? Was she was like, okay, it was no bad. See, I

Aaron  23:36

told you. It's funny. I think I watched a nightmare before christmas like in its full entirety for the first time yesterday. I've never actually sat down and legitimately watched that film. And I was like, Oh,

Brandon  23:51

I haven't seen that in a long time. Because I remember now what a controversial opinion again, I watched the movie, like a long time ago and was like, okay, whatever. Like I didn't really, I didn't really care about it. It was like, yep, that was a movie. And there's people that love that movie so much. It's like, their favorite movie of all time. And I'm just like me. Okay, whatever. Fine. I guess I know.

Aaron  24:21

I I did truly enjoy because like, again, it's been I've never seen it in its full entirety. Because I think the only other times I've ever seen it was like, on TV. So Oh, yeah. commercials and, you know, edited down a little bit. You know, it's like, oh, yeah, okay, whatever. But yeah, that was I sat down actually, like legitimately watched it. I was like, Oh, it's not like a like a terrible movie. I loved it. Um, and then the other film I think we watched after that was the haunted mansion with Eddie Murphy.

Brandon  24:57

Yeah,

Aaron  24:57

because Me Me too. I think Colin was with me. I don't remember. But yeah, I

Brandon  25:04

remember this. I think we all went I think that was Yeah, it was a group. Yes. Special. You can watch Casper from the ghost.

Aaron  25:15

If I can find it. Yes. And but that might be one of the sounds like I just like can't find because I was I really like zombie films and like I was want to watch what is it even though they're technically not zombies fight me on the fight me later internet but like 28 days later

25:39

Oh yeah, I'm for that one

Aaron  25:42

or one of my one of my all time favorite zombie films. Well that means that not favorite is but one of the things I can watch like any time is Shaun of the Dead.

Brandon  25:54

I mean, it's technically a zombie film. I just love it. There's a but I've seen a lot of zombie movies. And like, I can't really tell you. Which one was which. Right? I did the same movie to me. They're all just sort of like I have I have no way in my brain to distinguish them from each other. Like they all just sort of run together and I have no like, qualifying marks of Oh yeah, that's this one. And this is this one this other different like, it's it's a movie I don't know. Except for Shaun of the Dead. That one's very different and strange. But the rest of them I'm like

26:38

okay.

Collin  26:44

Dead.

26:48

Oh, it was it was another really good should watch some other Oh,

Brandon  26:51

I don't know about zombie movie. Oh, but the only other movie I ever want to watch. It's like, quote, unquote, scary is definitely the classic brotherhood of the wolf. Is Hey, I like to review a lot. Otherwise, it's definitely not a good movie. But

Collin  27:13

a good one.

Brandon  27:14

I like February a lot. To watch that one in the fall like I'm

27:19

gonna watch the Brotherhood of the wolf.

Brandon  27:21

No one else will watch that I can. No, you're ridiculous. Get out.

Aaron  27:24

That's the French one. Right? Yeah,

Brandon  27:26

yeah. pactola loop. Right. That one? With Manny. Right, Manny the best character in the whole movie. Yeah.

27:36

There's,

27:36

there's another.

Aaron  27:39

Oh, besides like all the Tim Burton movies that kind of preceded or came after? Nightmare Before Christmas. Like

27:53

the corpses bride.

Aaron  27:54

I know. It's good. But I just never know was one of those other films. I've just like, never seen like, I know what it's about. But I've never actually sat down and be like, Oh, yeah, this is Phil.

Brandon  28:07

This is my shondra of movie. Right. Like, you know, like Halloween even like the lighthearted ones like that, like Halloween flash, like scary slash like, slash slasher movie, right?

Aaron  28:19

Yeah,

Brandon  28:19

I've run into those.

Aaron  28:22

I've never seen any of the, you know, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Or the Hills Have Eyes movies or anything like that.

Collin  28:29

Yeah. Yeah, that's not my, I think at all.

Brandon  28:40

But that's what happened. Like, let's, uh, when I was in college, I saw a bunch of those because like, all my roommates, my friends like, oh, man, I'm gonna like you know, like, let's watch this. I was like, okay, whatever. here so watch it and it was just like dumb. Did it like it? Like Okay, I know whatever there's no awesome fight scene in the rain like in brotherhood of the wolf right with me takes on those crazy deep. Yes, crazy Gypsy people. bards? Great. Sorry, should not have said that word. That's a derogatory term. Sorry. I apologize for using the word. I know I screwed up. screwed up to polish apologize. Okay, sorry. The crazy wolf worshipping people.

Collin  29:41

Those guys will then cancel cultists does that. Is that the proper word? Kinda.

Brandon  29:45

Yeah, kind of called, isn't it? Yeah.

Collin  29:48

Closer or more appropriate? Um, yes.

Aaron  29:56

Cuz I was literally thinking about this the other day I was like, we're probably gonna talk about Something halloweeny

Brandon  30:01

and an accident. Yeah.

Collin  30:05

I have anything written

Aaron  30:05

down, but I was like, there was a film that's like, wow, this is like it's kind of, you know, like, a film that you just kind of. Oh yeah, it's Halloween. I have to watch it.

Brandon  30:16

I remember. Yeah, so there are I remember the thing I was gonna say. There are some movies like that that are like they're not like, traditionally like classic ones, but I like them anyway. Yeah, and one of them is definitely brotherhood. The wolf. Like I mentioned the other one. I just remembered what I was gonna say. Earlier, the thing that triggered my brain it came back. You're seeing the faculty know? Yeah. Oh, man. It's so good. So in like a bad way, right? It's not like the best movie ever. But I actually really kind of like it. It's like a low budget. Like it's very like beat movie, kind of. It's like a take off of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. But they take over the faculty of the School. Right? And they're just trying to take over this school. So it's like, it's like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but in high school. Right. And it has the whole like, late 90s, early 2000s trope of like, ragtag group of kids who don't normally hang out, have to work together to like, save the day from invading alien people. It's so it's really corny. Really. Like, it's cheesy, but I really like that. Like the faculty, it's like Josh Hart. Isn't that he's like, one of the early ones. Before he was in, like every movie ever. Yeah. And he plays like the druggie kid. And then there's like a whole bunch of other random people. There's like, the popular girl and then like, other girl and like, smart dude, and like, sporty guy, right? Like there's that kind of like, it's like, Breakfast Club needs Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Right? Sounds

Collin  32:10

cool.

Brandon  32:11

It is kind of cool. And it has my favorite scene ever. I think about the scene often, you know, there's like, you know, the schools as big paper chopper things?

32:20

Yeah.

Brandon  32:21

It looks like it has that big giant blade on it. Yeah. And it's used to cut like really huge pieces of paper you're talking about? Yes, it looks like it's like a big giant pair of scissors. But it's like a fixed to a board. In the movie. Like he rips that thing off and smashes an alien in the face with it. And every time I see one of those things, that's what I think about is this even the faculty where he like grabs it, and like wrenches it off. So he's holding it like a machete. And he just like over wax this thing in the head is really bizarre. But like I have, I'm pretty sure it's just part of the movie. But that's every time I have one though. I see one at school or I use one. And it's I think that's a visual that I have. That's my association with paper chopper thing is the faculty.

Aaron  33:19

Brandon said two things that trigger me. Number one, he said corny and cheesy, which definitely reminds me of the Evil Dead series.

33:29

Yeah. Yeah.

Aaron  33:31

And I I do, I do love some boomstick action. And then you also said, Josh Hartman, which is in probably one of my all time favorite, scary esque movies, which is called 30 days of night.

Collin  33:52

Oh, yeah. Yeah. I read that book. Before it was in a movie.

Aaron  33:59

Oh, it is a book. That is right. Um, but I absolutely love that.

Brandon  34:05

I forgot about that movie. Yeah, I love that movie. Good. Pretty much the faculty can find this movie somewhere. Yeah. Sorry. I'm so distracted.

Aaron  34:17

Absolutely. Love, love. Love that movie. And so yeah, you said you said two things weirdly, of cheesy and corny and Josh Hartman are hard. Like, our net.

34:26

Yeah.

34:28

Yeah.

Brandon  34:34

Oh, yeah. alijah word is in this movie. Oh, man. Yeah. ushers in the faculty.

34:40

Yeah,

Brandon  34:41

I doubt. Yeah. It's a bit. Oh, sure. Sure. Yeah. I will try to watch a movie this week sometime because

34:56

I had. I had a

Collin  35:00

Halloween

Aaron  35:02

nightmare slash flashback the other day.

Brandon  35:05

So who do you remember when these tell? Do tell? Wait? Oh, did

Aaron  35:10

I will tell. I'm in school in school in days where we got to dress up as a costume and like to go to school

Brandon  35:20

a very long time ago.

Aaron  35:21

I definitely. Like that was like my favorite time of the year. I dressed up as George are beings one year. And then as I got older Yeah, I remember everyone like Kade and George are in like, hated the first Star Wars movie and was like, Oh, just as him as Follow me, dude,

Brandon  35:38

you can by the faculty on VHS for $5 for Amazon now, I just wanted to throw that out there. I'm sorry. Go ahead. George are

Aaron  35:45

we're not we're not sponsored, but we would like them to. I mean, I just remember like, I was talking with my supervisor. And you know, I had this this thought the other day when you know what a watch and like Hocus Pocus, all the kids are walking around and around and doing school stuff. And like, oh, man, I remember dressing up and going to school. I dressed up as George are being funnier. Oh my gosh, I'm ashamed of myself. Yeah.

Brandon  36:15

But the the weather today actually made me think about that a little bit too, because it seems like any every Halloween when we were little, was like, for freezing cold. Right? Every time. So no matter what costume you were wearing. Or freezing to death. It was so cold. So you had like, like, wears a big giant coat over here. Like what are you like, open your coat? Look, I'm a pirate. Okay. Anyway. Saw called. Let me out. Give me a caddy.

Aaron  36:56

Yeah, I was detailing our candy excursion when we were younger. And we'd we'd either walk up or dad would drive us up the driveway. and drove

37:09

revenue would

37:10

we would go to bairds and then Hill houses. And then bindles

Aaron  37:19

and then I can never remember if we turned around and went all the way down to like talkies. Oh, man.

Brandon  37:25

Yeah, no, yeah.

Aaron  37:26

But like, it sounds like it was detailed for a reason. Or it was just whoever is closest proximity either or, but I just remember I can't we went to bears house. Oh, he's got candy. And then Hill House is always at the best candy and then taught it over to endles and she gave us really good candy. And before that.

Brandon  37:48

A few years before that happened for you are out doing that. When I was a youth, there was actually a surprising number of young people that lived in that area. Like my dad's house, and you wouldn't think about it right now. Because like nobody lives there. Really. It's all like older people but there was a ton of kids that live there. So we used to have these big like neighborhood a Halloween party things. Yeah. And we would go to like somebody's house like we did it at our house one year we did it the other people's houses other years. Like with kids. And like, I thought we would all drive around together all these places. Yeah, it was kind of nuts. Right? Because it kind of surprised me how many there's pictures of this at home somewhere out there a number of people in the picture will shock you because you'll be like first of all Oh, I'd want to be around all these people. I vaguely remember like how many kids are here What in the world you would have been very small for some of these

Aaron  39:00

I just remember like having like a bunch of people over and then us dressing up but I never remembered like now the context of like why we did bad but like

39:09

I definitely not just

Aaron  39:11

right doing something like that for Halloween.

39:18

And then

Aaron  39:20

I just remember coming home and all this is down when I was in my in my height of a trick or treating. I was coming home and then sitting in the living room and watching like Scooby Doo zombie Island or something like that. Or something or the google earth google google school or something from Scooby Doo I just remember that being like, trigger treat. Come home watch. Can we do like that's nothing else. Just boom, boom like one and done. Like does the AMA candy watch me do film on perfect. I'm all set for tonight. And you go yeah

Collin  40:00

I heard you say nice.

Brandon  40:04

I guess we have to bring up the elephant in the room. The thing that you cannot watch on TV this year

40:11

does it have does it start with a C and

40:14

then do with Charlie Brown's?

Brandon  40:19

Yes. Oh yeah, yes. Perfect. That was the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. Ah, well not air on CBS. What was the first time like ever since it was made? Do they give a reason why does mildly Yes. Apple bought the rights to it. And it is now an apple television exclusive content. Eyes. Oh, you are not allowed to watch it. calling you did this because it's behind a paywall. Yes, it's true.

40:54

You did this.

40:57

Apple has bought

41:00

America's movie.

Brandon  41:04

The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. And now you cannot watch it on television

Aaron  41:08

corporations are taking over.

Brandon  41:13

Set sadface not watch it. No, no, it's terrible. Three sad is

Aaron  41:24

the same thing with the Thanksgiving one.

Brandon  41:29

I don't know. Probably the Christmas one. Right. Oh, yes, one.

Aaron  41:36

So the only one I always remember.

Brandon  41:41

Those only 312. Anybody watches a bunch of other ones. But like, they're like really weird. Like, there's a voting one. And there's like a

Aaron  41:48

Oh, yeah. Like probably like the firehouse. I remember that one. Yeah,

41:51

I don't know. I think it's weird.

Aaron  41:55

But I don't know why that reminded me of this. But do you know what festival is currently underway?

Brandon  42:07

No. Would it be the de wala festival?

Aaron  42:11

It is anyone?

42:13

Yeah.

Aaron  42:14

Independence, Kansas is actually not that far from where we currently live. No. But looking at the website, not, you know, definitely not having like the big events or anything like that.

Collin  42:28

All we can

42:30

do wala. And Joey gave me this look of why.

42:35

No, I mean, go and we

42:37

were looking. And I was like, they have things like,

Brandon  42:44

you know, just bands marching badly ends and potholes and

42:51

other things like Yeah.

Brandon  42:54

Carnival treats maybe

42:58

one of the one of the

Aaron  43:01

young adults his marching line guide, right? Yeah. Hey, I

Brandon  43:04

mean to be in line if I won job. Okay. One job would stay in line.

Collin  43:09

And everything band.

Brandon  43:10

Yeah, the one job match, man stay in line. If my horn line was out of line, they didn't hear about it.

Aaron  43:18

But yeah, that was I remember, literally, like an hour or two ago, and I was like, do all of our refresh of all is currently on our way. But then looking at the website. I was like, Oh,

Brandon  43:29

I mean, yeah, I don't know if they're having now this year. Maybe. They might have like a local like, oh, have some corn dogs. Like

Aaron  43:44

they might have some like the the rides and somebody's like, because I know like one of the one on

Collin  43:51

one of the

43:54

What was it? Google come here?

Collin  43:57

Um,

43:58

it was like the Miss Halloween. Yeah, they always they always had like the Yeah, there was like some sort of pageant.

Brandon  44:08

No, it was always marching. I don't know what's happening. I just,

Aaron  44:11

I never knew it was an actual, like, legitimate thing because I will always just like miserable and cold every time I went

Brandon  44:17

well. Yes. I mean, I knew they had more stuff than what we were where we were right, because we were at the park fairground thing. Right with the world. wellfield for marching. Man, muddy disaster. uneven hilly mess. Like, oh, yeah, I mean, I guess you kind of got an inkling it was other stuff because we walked the parade route. Yeah, no. And so I was like, oh, there's other things around, but like, I didn't actually know what those things were. Cuz I just like, Okay, I'm gonna go take a nap on the bus now. Or like, I'm just gonna wander around here. And so there's the Catch Roy walk to the grocery store and buy some ice cream.

Aaron  45:04

I always thought it was like legit like, just for marching bands like I didn't know there's like a festival and it's like there's a lot of people that gather around for this marching band competition I

Brandon  45:12

know it's not like the zarco right that's the marching festival which most of the other ones have like actual things involved right or some kind of like town fare like the stupid Carthage one right that's good Maple Leaf day thing. Carthage why I was getting bad scores Carthage doesn't matter with you why you hate marching bands Carthage which I'm not better it's fine

45:41

it's also when so well you couldn't even tell even tell it though.

45:44

I

Brandon  45:46

was it two weeks ago every other competition every year we got like 90s and then car every time so we're new to judging the show. Where did you come from? Why do you have a carpenter we're judging the marching man competition got here. Our local plumber guy judges Machu Picchu much lower there.

Collin  46:04

I mean, it really was it was predictable. Like you could almost just go and going we will be 10 points at least lower.

Brandon  46:11

Yeah, more than that. 15 years like Yep, Garth is we're gonna score 75 because they hate marching bands and cars that we never went MacArthur but because they hate marching bands and

46:22

Shana was just fed up with a

Aaron  46:26

bit we, Shelby's brother and myself. We actually went up to Missouri State homecoming a few weeks ago, and the whole time I was there. I was like, wow, this must would have been like to sit in the stands actually watch a marching band show because the football was not great. But it was it was it was still fun. It's like oh yeah, I remember I marched and I hit that hole. And I hit that pole and I'm remarking on this field I'm or Oh, that's where we went and took the pictures that over there. But looking at the events for this year's new Walla county festival we have the tonight at 630 clips of the Queen Nila town competition.

47:10

In telecom today,

Aaron  47:11

there's the medallion hunt kickoff event that captures the entire town company all the time. clues are released each day and the hunt begins to spin search scenic independence or the famous medallion.

47:24

Oh, really? Yes.

47:27

I'm also it's a real thing.

Brandon  47:29

Holy cow. I didn't know that. That's kind of cool. Actually. A

Aaron  47:34

Tuesday is the queen Neela coronation.

47:37

A Thursday is the dude crews night.

Aaron  47:43

Downtown independence Riverside Park oval. Friday is the Halloween Eve movie at the park. And then October 31. Saturday is the Scarecrow contest winners will be announced virtually. And that's the events of your 2020s near Walla festival established in 1990.

Brandon  48:05

Okay, I did not know it was like a whole week of festivities. No Yeah, it's very I didn't know that independence. Kansas literally was Halloween Town. I was unaware of

Aaron  48:14

that until I watched a it's that sports documentary last chance you and they did a whole like football season of independence Community College. And they did a segment like adjust only like Nia Walla and I was like, wait, I'm 29 years old and I'm just learning about this like, thing. Yeah, like there's like I mean,

Brandon  48:40

I had you how do you remember how early we had to get up to get over there? By the time that dumb parade started in the morning? Like

Aaron  48:46

I was not left and it was dark when or dark when we

Brandon  48:49

Yeah, I had to leave the house at like 430 in the morning. Yeah, it was awful. It was so bad. Dan, it was always really foggy, because it was October and a cold as heck. So you had to like drive like point two miles an hour to the high school.

Aaron  49:04

I hated it. Because like my senior year, and I played football like oh, football got home because we always had to go to I hop and didn't get home. Do

Brandon  49:12

I have to go? It was me.

Aaron  49:16

Until like midnight, and then like three hours asleep? Oh, I gotta be at the high school. I got to put up. Oh, like Oh, no one else is gonna help me load the band trailer. Cool. I'll guess I'll do it. Yeah, kind of kagi song if you're listening to this, thank you for being my homeboy. here cuz I was like, put the timpani tivities go here. Like, no

Brandon  49:39

air, Tiffany's?

Aaron  49:40

Tiffany's go in the trailer dead.

Brandon  49:43

Yeah, you're in the chair. Yeah. Yeah, I don't really that was the thing that was um, that was still a thing like none of the drummers slash percussionists could be bothered to load the percussion like

49:53

I always did it.

Brandon  49:55

No, but like no the rest of them like all the guys in the pit there anything like you You play the xylophone. Load the xylophone. Right? It

Collin  50:07

takes care. I

Brandon  50:08

understand, like, it's easy for me to say as a trumpet player, but like I my job as a trumpet player was to make sure my trumpet was on the trailer. Like

Aaron  50:19

that was what that was when I was at my most volatile is when people would just like hand their instruments and put them on the little ramp. I'm like, I'm sorry, what are you doing?

Brandon  50:29

That's what, that's what they told us to do. Whenever I was there, they're like, get it on the trailer, because somebody will help move it around and put it in there. But like, bring it to the trailer. Like, here's my uniform. Here's my instrument. gone to the bus now. To take a nap, because I'm

Aaron  50:47

because it's 430 in the morning.

Collin  50:50

Yes. Well, usually. Yeah, I noticed the night before. Or but this was coming. No.

50:55

Yeah.

Brandon  50:56

Well, they started before if there was a home football game. Yeah. Because they would just like bring it we would bring it back from the field and just put it directly on the trailer. Yeah. Yeah. Right. Yeah, there wasn't always sometimes it wasn't a home game. So I had to do that.

Aaron  51:10

We all we still stopped at that time, McDonald's. in Joplin,

Brandon  51:17

the last year I went my senior year was really terrible. I just because that was the year of like, budget cuts for everyone. That was the first year they started to be like, Nah, Ito need to take buses places. Like they cut down the number of buses that we took to there. And so like, it was just, we just took too long for the color guard and one for the band. Oh, that was not exciting. Right, so I had to share my seat. Somebody like I shared with my friends. I was fine. But like I got I got in there. Good. I got Jesse was somebody that I liked. So I was like, Okay, good. And at one point, I was like, all right, Emily on the floor. You can lay up here and she was like, Alright, this is a good plan. I like you later Yeah, I did. I was like I'm laying on the floor. You can lay up here because I'm going back to bed she's like Yep, sounds good to me.

52:31

Ah Oh, one times though. Right? Yeah, yeah. Good memories at least they those dabbing

Brandon  52:41

Yeah, I guess so. I feel bad about it. I remember I suppose the rest of them are all just the same. So I remember that one I guess. Wow. There we go. Done. Independence being stuck in a seat all the way in Independence Kansas. Except for the other time we went there I remember one time I went remember a gym bus driver crazy. Slightly intoxicated, Jim. used are in the bus one time. And all of a sudden we like like expletives came from the driver seat. And we all looked up and we saw big signs and welcome to Oklahoma. We're like, Oh, that's not where we're supposed to go. We've missed a turn somewhere. Good. Whoopsie Daisy. That's right. Not independence, Oklahoma. Oh, my Kansas, Jim, Kansas.

Aaron  53:52

I think half the time when I was little, like, getting not forced to go since you guys were. You had to go. You know, getting in the suburban or dad's truck early in the morning. And I didn't know where independence was for the longest time. I just knew it wasn't close.

Brandon  54:11

I mean, I couldn't get in now. I know. It's like

Aaron  54:15

I was like, Where we going? independence. Never heard of it. Okay, wake me up when we get there. I mean,

Brandon  54:21

not super far from Oklahoma by definitely not in Oklahoma. So like, so we messed up a little bit there. wubbzy that guy was so messed up. I guess. It was allowed to drive a bus ever like

54:52

oh, straight north. Yeah,

Brandon  54:56

it's in the southern part of Kansas.

Aaron  54:58

Yeah, it's only like an hour away. Half from where I live now. So

Brandon  55:05

yeah, you would have to get up near as early to go to the fun.

Collin  55:09

Yes.

Aaron  55:11

Oh person the guy. Yes. I have ever these days, you kids will never understand

Brandon  55:17

like, yeah, that's what this whole podcast about having to pay attention

55:39

Lillian and Noah are going Noah is going as a as a worker or this year

Brandon  55:46

though he has was he inspired by the people fixing the sidewalk

Collin  55:49

us so I don't know if I told you this he is so sad that they are basically we were literally watching these people work on our sidewalk in in our block, or over a year at this point they started last summer. And so we'll go on walks and we find them. You know one of the guys one time let us sit in his mini excavator. And we'll watch all Yeah, right. Like, I mean just super cool stuff watching the skid steers drive around at super fast speeds as they're cleaning up the stuff and do like super fast spins in the middle of it with the bucket raised up like Yeah, he was trying to scoop up the last bit of the gravel. And so he set the the bucket so low that he raised the front wheels of the skid steer. Oh, yeah, yeah. But it's all wheel drive. So he's flying down the road, you know, sparks flying and he's collecting enough and then you know, he does this fast turn just going.

Brandon  56:54

I'm not trying to fix in the road suckers.

56:58

I'm just the sideboard dude. Yeah, that's fine. But

Brandon  57:04

the gouges in the middle of the streets.

Collin  57:09

I people that we're seeing now like, we've watched them work for over a year. So he's really sad that they're going to be gone. And he loves workers is what we call them is what he calls them so that any construction crew anybody who's in sort of any sort of machinery, that's a worker,

Brandon  57:28

so he his Oh, orange vest. hardhat. Good to go.

Collin  57:32

Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. Sweet vest hard hat. It comes with goggles. And he's got a little name tag it says foreman. All Yeah, it's good boy. It's got these little tools on it. So it's got a hammer, and it's got a saw. Well, we have some fake tools. And when he saw the saw, he was like, oh, there's we have to so he ran and so now he carries two saws and hammer and a screwdriver. And he calls friends because there's Yeah. Yeah, it's pretty awesome. Yeah. I actually I had to I called the city and I let them know i was like i said right off the bat. I am very excited that the crews that are working on our street are going to be gone. But I know my son is going to miss them immensely because they have brought him so much joy over the past year. It's mixed feelings and emotions in my house.

58:37

Miss the jackhammering, though.

Collin  58:40

You know, in a really great crew and they're always very nice. Um, Lillian is going as a quote Princess, but her dress

Brandon  58:48

is a quote princess.

Collin  58:53

Because it's a generic princess outfit is very, very much very closely approximates what Elsa wears in a movie

59:07

but it is so it permeates so far even into a household that doesn't watch TV. My daughter I got this right good job doors. So

59:20

send that money callin Yes, she

Collin  59:22

is. She's uh, but it's not it's not a Disney Princess thing. It's just got the blues and the Canada sleeves and those trs saying and of course, she is beyond thrilled at that because it can be like Elsa, again, a movie we have not seen but she knows everything about it. Whatever.

Brandon  59:52

What actually pretty good. Way better than the sequel. I'll stand by that frozen to good

Collin  1:00:00

Again against sticking with the sequels that very rarely never good, right? They're very rare. They're always bad I'll just say that equals always bad.

Brandon  1:00:11

Always frozen to not good.

Aaron  1:00:17

I need to get

Brandon  1:00:19

my ducks to Collin Mighty Ducks three not not so good but Mighty Ducks to

Collin  1:00:26

get is gonna. Anytime you start saying you know adding ones twos threes fours to them, the probability of it being awful isn't

Brandon  1:00:36

right. A fare well Aaron you're gonna have to get your costume your couples costume sorted out then sounds like everyone's got Shana got hers today. She I think she still might be wearing it. I'm not sure that's gonna be should be a pirate apparently.

1:00:57

Okay. No, she's

Brandon  1:00:58

also she's gonna be a pirate chorus. At some point this year, she decided that she wanted to watch the Pirates of the Caribbean movies for the first time. Because she was like, Yeah, I don't know where she's been. But like she like, Oh, you know, it was like one of those like, I don't want to watch it. It's dumb. It's ridiculous. And I think she saw a bunch of those jacksboro memes, right? It was like, I kinda want to watch this movie now. And then now we've watched them 40 to 100 times. Don't be like, sit like, well, there's nothing on TV to watch. Do you know why we eat supper tonight? And she's like, well, we could watch the carrion like

Collin  1:01:48

those aren't the worst movies. I will say.

Brandon  1:01:50

No, no, no, again. This was the I like the first one a lot and then that those that as they go on, they don't get like worse. But like all of a sudden you're like, wow, this movie got dark in like a hurry. Like what's happening? Why is it really so depressing now? It's supposed to be like an upbeat, fun pirate adventure movie and it's all like dour of what's dying. dull. Sad. He like what happened.

1:02:16

What the heck.

Brandon  1:02:22

So she's apparently she's now being a pirate for Halloween. She's trying to find a jar to put dirt in so she can be like jack Sparrow? Yes. I don't know if we have a jar. So that'll be a little tricky, but, you know,

Collin  1:02:39

dirt so that we

Brandon  1:02:40

do have dirt outside? Right now? It's like muddy, but it will be Yeah, I don't know. We'll see.

Collin  1:02:50

I don't know. I don't know.

Brandon  1:02:53

So I'm not sure if she's still wearing it or not. Because I came in here this front room to record but like when I came in here, she was wearing it like Yeah, she was like, haha, like the dance thing about so. Yeah, after I don't know.

Collin  1:03:16

What are you going to? Aaron's

Brandon  1:03:16

got to get on this. He's only got a few days. at work. I think we should google a couple costume ideas for him. Collins we can.

1:03:25

I don't know.

Aaron  1:03:26

I never had a big fan of this.

1:03:29

I think it's a great idea.

Aaron  1:03:34

I guess I could see Calvin Why yes.

Collin  1:03:38

But I've got COVID and Fauci here. No, don't do that. No, no, no, no

1:03:43

if you bit

Brandon  1:03:48

yeah, I've definitely never not that. eliminated a lime like oh, that could be good. a fireman and a Dalmatian. Because like a spotty t shirt. What

Collin  1:04:02

goes loofa in a bar. Bob Ross in the tree.

Brandon  1:04:12

milk and cookies.

Collin  1:04:18

Listeners write in. I saw some ideas to terrible costume ideas. 2020

1:04:26

The Energizer Bunny in a battery. Oh, that's genius.

Aaron  1:04:32

Aaron doesn't tell I saw someone one year. Someone dressed up as a hunter.

Collin  1:04:37

a teeny spider.

Brandon  1:04:39

Wow. Not a

1:04:44

big fan of this, but

Brandon  1:04:48

guess what? He's definitely Tom Hanks and Wilson. Castaway. Ah yes, that's The best way it's a guide a raggedy shirt carrying effects box at a girl with Wilson like painted on our T shirt. Ah yes. That is brilliant. I like that one a lot. It's not a thought I saw someone.

Aaron  1:05:33

Say I saw someone dressed up as a hunter. And then the other person was dressed up as a deer. I was like,

1:05:39

Oh, that's cute.

Brandon  1:05:41

That's weird. That's like, I'm gonna shoot you right in the face. Like Yeah, that's a little weird.

Collin  1:05:53

It's not a couples costume. But there was a professor in Missouri State. When you're asked him was he even holding a pair of clothes hanger and off of it? Like an exclamation point, colon. Question mark. They were first of all, even and he was punctuated equilibrium. And balance those equilibrium, but they were punctuation so they were I am here for

Brandon  1:06:34

Victor borga right. Isn't that the guy who did it? Yeah.

Collin  1:06:42

Oh, my gosh. Can you believe we watch that in elementary school? Oh, that was so much Gad. Oh,

Brandon  1:06:50

it was like fourth or fifth grade?

Collin  1:06:52

Yeah, with I think whatever that would have been name was it the music instructor. Mr. Hoover? No, no. Shirts, shirts.

Brandon  1:07:02

But brought the car around or, or no, that was Miss Hoover. Yeah, that was my mission shirts with the other one. The one I had in ministry. I had Mrs. Hoover and like Primary School, which is like the K three building and then Mrs. tshirts was another building. Like fourth fifth. Fifth grade building. Yeah, that's what we did the recorders. Yay. Everyone's favorite. Yes. Quarter time.

1:07:31

As Mrs. shirts.

Brandon  1:07:33

Yeah, Miss Hoover was the other one though. We did have a cart when I was there. We had a primary school there was a like a trailer outside. There's like the extra classroom that was like a special class class. Like you would go out there for music. And then one day was music that was like, art or something. Not our own room. Maybe just music. It was outside the back there. Yeah, because art had a room inside.

1:08:01

Yes, I remember this. Whoa. Yeah. track down that video clip of Ernest Borgnine? Oh, yeah.

Brandon  1:08:20

Yeah, I can't. I have no idea why she showed us that. But

Collin  1:08:25

because it was. It was like it was like the same. The same year we learned Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas. We watched Ernie Borgnine do do that routine. Do that skit. Know, maybe she was just paying to get some beer? I

Brandon  1:08:45

don't know. I

Collin  1:08:48

don't know. Really?

Brandon  1:08:50

I thought well, no, that wasn't. That couldn't have been the same year. Because that song wasn't me. That was it. It wasn't the same year because definitely

Collin  1:09:01

a

Brandon  1:09:09

that was part of our third grade.

1:09:13

program that song.

Collin  1:09:17

I'm pretty sure.

Brandon  1:09:21

I think I think it's called phonetic punctuation. And it's Victor. borga. For Victor borga.

Collin  1:09:31

That's why I was having a hard Yes,

Brandon  1:09:33

Borgia I don't really know how you pronounce that. Sorry. Uh, yeah, I think it's called phonetic punctuation. Yeah. That's the one that's really funny, right? As you were, as you were saying, that

1:09:46

sounds like oh,

Brandon  1:09:49

this is not as boring. It's a different puzzle. But yeah, that was part of the third grade program because that was on like the 50 states we'd sing all like the that 50 state song and then like dub America, the beautiful slash all those other weird sounds like that. And then we all had to dress up in some sort of like, weird outfit. I don't know why, but I had to be a cowboy. I seem to recall. Yeah. Because I think

Aaron  1:10:14

there's one where I dress a cowboy and do some of those Western songs and then I'd wear like a bright yellow like raincoat and sing rubber ducky. And then I'd wear hippie stuff and sing the song every day the the seasons on

Brandon  1:10:39

Oh, that turn

Aaron  1:10:41

turn. Yeah, yeah, do that.

Brandon  1:10:44

Whatever sometimes called. Yes,

1:10:46

yes.

Brandon  1:10:46

All the only one I remember is the one where we did the 50 state one and then in fourth grade, we did the one outside with like the maple and it was broken. It was all messed up. So everybody did it wrong all the time. It was all bad.

1:11:03

Whatever.

Brandon  1:11:07

Yeah, it was springy. stuff.

Collin  1:11:10

Yeah. Traditional. Bring out the maple. Yeah.

Brandon  1:11:20

That's a personal trivia. Have you seen him a pole? Yes. Yes, I have.

Collin  1:11:29

You know, it's like, part of this. Culture. Like this is just what we do here. So we're gonna keep on doing it.

Brandon  1:11:37

I've never seen another one.

1:11:39

Come since the outside of it.

Brandon  1:11:41

I've never seen one outside of the context of my fourth grade play musical. FET I've never seen one in the wild. I saw I saw like TV like old things, but like never, never like a wild like, Oh, hey, that's a maple like no, never see one since fourth grade, so I don't know about like, I don't know how traditional they still are.

Collin  1:12:11

So traditional. You only see them in reenactments.

Brandon  1:12:14

Yeah, or if anybody may polls if any listeners made a poll, please let us know. Or if you have no idea what the heck we're talking about.

Collin  1:12:25

Right into maypole USA 111.

Brandon  1:12:30

Collin  1:12:38

People

Brandon  1:12:39

will actually see it that way. Cynthia Collins Phantom PO Box. I guess this

1:12:49

is a

Brandon  1:12:50

yes. Boom. gone forever. In the river rock. Yeah. Agreed. Cool.

1:13:24

All right, then.

Collin  1:13:25

Well

Brandon  1:13:28

you guys have tried to stay warm this week. No, like, freeze? No.

1:13:33

Promises

Brandon  1:13:34

or float away for free. Yeah, yes. real bad. Mostly bad because that means indoor recess all week. Nah.

Collin  1:13:49

cold and rainy every single day up here.

1:13:54

Yeah.

1:13:57

I'm not thrilled.

Brandon  1:13:58

I don't care if it would be cold. I mean, I'm not sad that it's raining because I get has it rained in months. So like that's good. And it didn't rain like in a mass deluge. So there wasn't any like super crazy flash flooding which is also good. So I'm not not super sad that there's been like a sad that I can't go out every system. But it's good because man it was dry and nasty around here. So like so so that was at least good. It's always good that there's actually rain happening. I almost forgot. What rain was like. I guess Thunder this morning. I was like, What the heck? Oh, yeah. What the heck is that noise? That's weird. I've heard that a long time. Wait a minute. Let

1:14:57

me look this up. This guy's awesome. angry.

Brandon  1:15:04

I can't remember the last time it rained down here. It's been months. So like, even in June when it's like normally like super rainy It was not. Yeah, like at all. So it's been since the beginning of the summer when it's actually framed. And definitely not like multiple days in a row. So that's good news, because it was super dry. So that's at least good. Water. It's a good thing.

1:15:44

Turns out turns out

Brandon  1:15:47

water is important.

Aaron  1:15:49

There's a famous country singer that once said, brain is a good thing.

Collin  1:15:53

Oh, no. Okay. So anyway, hey,

1:16:09

pollen. Brain makes corn for makes some sort of

Collin  1:16:15

beverage ready for the spring? Because? And then corn. Corn makes whiskey whiskey make my baby

Brandon  1:16:26

today does the actual song right now.

1:16:29

Yes, it

Brandon  1:16:30

is kidding me.

Aaron  1:16:33

Well, we don't we don't disappoint here at the Oh, brother podcast. Brandon.

Brandon  1:16:37

We don't Wow. I mean, I wanted that I just discovered that it's on existed. So how do I

Collin  1:16:43

know I think it's

Brandon  1:16:44

not a it's not what it was to country music. This is a Yeah. One of the reasons is

Collin  1:16:49

just become clear to me. I stopped listening to country music something like 10 years ago, and every time it stumbles across my lap, like in a store. Like, it's like, wow, I still know all of these songs. Okay, cool. Anyway, moving on.

Brandon  1:17:05

Yeah, that's how I feel about it. Cuz all the times I hear country on the radio or like in a store. It's country that I remember from the mid 90s. and was like, oh, is Alan Jackson. era that guy hasn't been relevant and a lot of times, Alan Jackson. Alright. Clint black Like what? Yeah, right. Like, alright, well as brixon done. Wait. Yeah, yeah. Wow. So yeah, this is what is what I feel the same way. That was probably last time I was to country. A lot was I think my fifth grade. I was like, yeah, I'm done now. Even before then. It was only like a little bit. But like, I've not done that yet. You're welcome. Yeah, no, nothing some good. And the show notes. Just so we're clear. Thank you. Oh,

Collin  1:18:23

we should we should we should get off things worse.

Brandon  1:18:26

It's alright. Sounds good. Oh,

Aaron  1:18:29

I am supposed to say she'll be that me. I have to say the word okra on live here. Don't ask why. I'll explain a little later date. But okra,

Collin  1:18:39

okra?

Brandon  1:18:40

You okay? Yes. Gross.

Collin  1:18:42

You feel like this is kind of one of those like, trigger words where he's activating like an army of secret soldiers that are gonna write and sell. I'm just reading off of this card here. Oprah, Oprah. Oh, crap. Anyway, guys. Well, I

Brandon  1:18:57

don't know why you didn't want to mention the world's most disgusting vegetable, but

Collin  1:19:01

that's fine. sleeper cell. Did

Brandon  1:19:03

you just did you just activate? It was probably in Mississippi, because that's

Aaron  1:19:10

so uh, so I got it played. We have a collection of stuffed animals. And I'd recently just purchased a

Brandon  1:19:23

one of those Beanie Babies, isn't it? No, one of those animals

Aaron  1:19:26

that you mean? That you can like put in the microwave and like eat up and it's like one of those like neck pet thingies. Watch it. Okay. Yeah, so it's in the shape of an alligator. And

Brandon  1:19:40

same thing.

Aaron  1:19:42

So it's in the shape of an alligator which Shelby has named okra, though. Stuff Alligator, okra and I said that you will use it on

Brandon  1:19:57

the alligator.

Aaron  1:20:00

Okay, it's green. That's out since you need Okay,

Collin  1:20:05

well it's trying to shut this down afternoon.

Brandon  1:20:09

It's not it's not gotten better. Welcome. Turns out all you got to do in this podcast is start finishing vegetables and just goes down hill.

Aaron  1:20:24

I'll take all my high fives and friends and a person. Thank you

1:20:37

Bye
